Around the World with Roaming with Red!

Before I was “red” in Paris (2001)

Hi! Hello! Bonjour! Hola! Oi! Guten Tag! Traveling is in my blood, as I grew up traveling around the US with my family. We went all over the place. From the east coast to the west coast, and sometimes even all over our great state of Louisiana. When I was 20 years old, I had the opportunity to travel to Europe with my friend for a month. It was two gals and a backpack each. We hit 9 countries in 30 days, and I can’t remember how many cities, but it was a lot. It was the moment I landed at London Gatwick that I knew I would never be the same. The smells, the London black cab that we jumped into, the unusually sunny 6 days we spent there...these are the things that sparked my obsession with travel, and that obsession has not subsided.

I Want to Share Every Inch of My Travels with You

Although the Four Seasons is nice, my favorite accommodations during travel are mid-range but nice places. Think boutique hotels and bed and breakfasts. My favorite airline is Delta, and I splurge for the upgraded seats in Delta Comfort for international and domestic travel. For restaurants I will always have a couple of really fancy meals, because I do love getting dolled up and making a night of it, but I love finding eateries with great food and good prices. I learned early on that there is an art to traveling if you want to maximize your experience, and I know you will find my tips and trips helpful and entertaining.

Oh, the Places I Will Go

My thirst for travel is not specific to a certain part of the world. The main focuses for my happiness during a trip are: a comfortable and clean place to stay; good food; and packing smartly. When given the opportunity, I will go anywhere at least once. If I really love it (like I love Paris and southern California) I will go as many times as I can. Traveling ignites something inside of me that some of you reading this understand. The desire to know other cultures, other languages, other people is so strong. Writing this, my insides are getting warm and tingly. We are currently in the midst of a global pandemic, and I can’t travel outside of the US, but I always have my photos as a reminder of what’s more to come.

Travel with or without Others

I wanted a job in travel after I graduated college. It was when the Internet was just starting to pick up momentum. The older travel agent that I asked to mentor me told me I was wasting my time, that travel agents were going to be obsolete as people grew more familiar with booking trips themselves. How wrong he was! But I listened to him, moved away to Atlanta, and went on to work at IBM instead. Getting that great job meant more pleasure travel for me, though, and it was because of it that I was able to go to London all by my lonesome. A week with no cell phone, no one giving me his/her opinion of what he/she wanted to do any given day. It was truly an experience I will never forget. I was even more hooked on travel.
