A backyard Christmas market happened at my house.

A backyard Christmas market happened at my house. Myself and six vendors debuted our wares for friends and family. It was fantastic.

My husband and I worked tirelessly to get this perfect, and while there were small changes we could make, it was pretty perfect.

Now I get to go to the actual Christmas markets in Germany and Austria. I’ll be getting ideas for next year!

Today is Small Business Saturday and a day to honor the people in our community who make the biggest differences in our lives.

In a world of technology and ease, the small businesses have adapted, adjusted, bent, and kept up as best as possible with the big guys. The things is, though, they shouldn’t have to be the same because they aren’t.

I was raised in a small business. Because of customers’ support, my siblings and I went to school, ate, got to be generous to others, and learned an ethic that is part of my fabric of who I am in my own business. I even went on to open 2 small and thriving businesses.

Please shop small today and everyday. Keep the ones who count top of your mind. They are the ones who will support you back when you need them. And trust me, you need them.

Have you ever ridden inside a streetcar in New Orleans? If so, you. know what this picture means to us here. And don't call it a trolley, we'll know you're not from here.

This picture was taken at the corner of Carrollton Ave and S Claiborne where the streetcars pause for a few minutes. It's the end of the line. I parked, jumped out of my car and asked the driver if I could take some snaps. His response was so New Orleans: "yeahhhh baaaybeh. You get what you need." It's one of the most charming things about this city, the people.

If you haven't hopped on a streetcar, do so. It's a magical ride you're not quick to forget.

The New Orleans Collection: St Louis Cathedral.

It wouldn't be a New Orleans Collection if it didn't have the beautiful cathedral in the mix. The day I went to shoot this picture, the sky was perfect and there were hardly any people around. No blocked views.

I treasure the moments in the French Quarter that are peaceful and few on tourists. Going as a local is a magical experience, and feeling like you have it to yourself is next level.

My choice to include the trees was deliberate, as I love trees in my photos. I love the response I've gotten from this picture, and hope you enjoy it too.
